Meet Uma Nagulapalli, CEO & Owner of My House In-Home Care

I've spent the last 14 years building My House In-Home Care into one of Arizona's most trusted in-home care agencies, but my path here was anything but conventional.

My background is in information technology, and when I acquired My House over a decade ago, I brought a systems-minded approach to an industry that desperately needed it. I also recognized what many overlook: that quality in-home care for seniors is not just a compassionate choice, it is an essential service for families across Arizona.

That conviction has driven every decision I've made since. My House has grown into a team of more than 200 caregivers serving Phoenix and Tucson, and we are contracted with all three Arizona ALTCS Medicaid health plans - Mercy Care, Banner-University Family Care, and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. Today, we help hundreds of Arizona families keep their loved ones safely and comfortably at home, including through the ALTCS paid family caregiver program.

I remain hands-on in every aspect of our operations because I believe the families and caregivers we serve deserve nothing less. The trust that families, case managers, and healthcare partners across Arizona have placed in My House over the years is something I take personally and I work every day to honor it.

With more than 32 years of combined experience in caregiving and healthcare administration, I have dedicated my career to serving the elderly and disabled communities. My journey began as a caregiver for my grandmother, an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for helping others and laid the foundation for my career in in-home care.

After spending over a decade providing direct care, I transitioned into the administrative side of the industry, where I have spent more than 20 years supporting clients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Throughout my career, I have developed extensive knowledge of Arizona Long Term Care services and programs, enabling me to effectively guide individuals and families through complex care systems and ensure they receive the support they need.

Known for my compassion, dedication, and commitment to quality care, I take pride in advocating for vulnerable populations and helping people maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life. My unique combination of hands-on caregiving experience and administrative expertise allows me to understand the needs of both clients and care providers, making me a trusted resource within the in-home care community.

My passion for service continues to drive my work as I strive to make a positive difference in the lives of seniors, individuals with disabilities, and the families who care for them.

  • Help Getting Started: Helps families with initial questions and with every step of navigating approval with Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and with The ALTCS Eligibility Office.
  • Acts as the Employer of Record: While the family selects the caregiver, My House officially hires them, handles onboarding, and places them on the agency’s W-2 payroll. My House manages federal and state tax withholdings.
  • Provides Mandatory State Training: The agency ensures the family caregiver or friend completes Arizona’s required Direct Care Worker (DCW) training modules and certifications to maintain compliance with state law. My House can conduct this training one-to-one with caregivers in the client's home.
  • Conducts Required Background Checks: To ensure safety and comply with ALTCS mandates, the agency runs necessary background screenings and fingerprint clearances.
  • Pays for Required Certifications: To ensure safety and comply with ALTCS requirements, My House will pay for CPR/First Aid and tuberculosis testing.
  • Covers Liability and Workers' Comp Insurance: My House covers the caregiver under its professional liability and workers' compensation policies, protecting both the family and the worker in case of an on-the-job injury.
  • Provides Backup Care Options: If the family caregiver gets sick, goes on vacation, or needs a break, My House can seamlessly deploy its own professional, agency-directed caregiver to fill the gap without interrupting the client's care.
